The aim of this article is to try to trace the evolution of the image of women in the stories he wrote in the 1990s and the first half of the 21st century. The author’s attention focuses on the images of the mother/grandmother, the temptress, the beloved, the teenager, and on determining the specifics of portraying female characters. The analysis proves that over time, Fiedarenka pays more and more attention to the images of women. At the same time, he departs from the traditional, typical portrayal of a heroine and tries to show the character of the modern woman, to talk about her flaws and imperfections. Булгакова Собачье сердце на сцене Одесского и Рижского театров https://czasopisma.filologia.uwb.edu.pl/index.php/sw/article/view/2558 The article analyzes the socio-cultural and literary contexts that are recognized in the productions of M. Bulgakov’s story Heart of a Dog on the stage of the Odessa Ukrainian Theatre and the Riga Theatre of Russian Drama. In the scenography of the performances and in the audience’s reception of the story, the influence of V. Bortko’s movie Heart of a Dog can be traced, which significantly influenced the readers’/viewers’ perception of the text of the story. The interpretation on the stage of the Riga Theatre is related to the context of the era: the aesthetics of the avant-garde. In the diary, the sphere of feelings was singled out, which mainly concerns the writer’s emotional and love experiences. They are related, among others, to his mother Yelena KiriyenkoVoloshin and Alexandra Petrova, a close friend and confidant of Voloshin. Margarita Sabashnikova, the poet’s first wife, and his second wife Maria Zabolocka also feature prominently in the diary. The purpose of this article is to present Senchin’s artistic concept of creating a protagonist, and to show and discuss the distinguishing features and characteristics of Senchin’s “little man”/ “everyman”. Selected Senchin’s stories and the novel Rain in Paris (Дождь в Париже, 2018) are the subject of analysis in this paper. The article focuses on the main character of the novel, a 40-year-old man experiencing a midlife crisis. He is also involved in the painful process of self-reflection and reappraisal of his life. In conclusion, it can be said that mediocre, ordinary people, often losers, lonely, weak, apathetic, passive citizens remain in the centre of Senchin’s interest. Senchin’s characters perform their daily chores automatically, without emotional involvement, and are unable to (or do not want to) liberate themselves from this state of passivity and monotony. The issue of language interaction was examined on the basis of onymic material, including personal and geographical names found in the region. The study has demonstrated that the anthroponyms and toponyms found in this region exhibit a considerable degree of linguistic interference, predominantly of Polish-East Slavonic origin, at the phonetic, morphological and lexical levels. Additionally, the names under examination include a notable number of hybrid forms, which represent the most pronounced manifestation of interference. These forms combine linguistic features and nominative patterns drawn from diverse languages within a single proper name. The author focused on the language of these historical documents. The issues concerning the state of the living language, so-called common speech, documented in the texts turned out to be extremely interesting. The Zabłudów prints captured common speech” to a small extent in the preface to Евангелїе oyчительное and Псалтырь c Часословцем. The Supraśl prints – Леѯиконъ сирѣчь Словесникъ славенскiи and Собранїе припадковъ краткое – reflected living Belarusian language on various levels: lexis, phonetics, morphology. These texts are an important source which confirms the continuity of development of the Belarusian language, in contrast to the opinion about its decline in the 18th century. Research into the dynamics of semantic and nominative space in the history of Russian culture allowed for the extraction of applicable/inapplicable, evaluative, and semantic density of the following concept in a historical perspective. The ideological potential of kinship in current Russian discourse on international relations, where the module of kinship (brotherhood) of Eastern Slavic peoples is used as a frequent metaphorical model, forms semantic continuity of the axiocategory of kinship in Russian linguaculture. Its relevance is supported by language facts such as: the dense nominative field of kinship; frequency of lexemes related to kinship retains high scores as shown by the Russian National Corpus; analysis of parallel corpuses of Eastern Slavic languages confirms the semantic continuity of the idea of kinship. Additional evidence from parallel corpuses will allow for the confirmation or rejection of the idea of linguospecificity of the nominative field of kinship in modern Slavic linguacultures. The author points out the changes that have taken place in Russian over the last twenty years, i.e. since the publication of Kolesnikov’s Dictionary of Women’s Names. She states that in the modern Russian language women’s names are derived with the help of word-forming formants well known from the Ruthenian language. However, some of them are used less frequently due to semantic and stylistic connotations (-š(а), -k(а)), others have started to be used in a previously unobserved way (-nic(а)). Also word-forming formants considered obsolete and unproductive (especially -еss(а)) have become active. Only the suffix -ŝic(a)/-čic(a) does not change its meaning and/or stylistic character, preserving its productivity. The “new” names selected for analysis were only those falling under the ideologically marked category. My comparison of the French vs. Soviet Russian evidence reveals absolutely identical mechanisms of and similar sources of “revolutionary” name giving. The Soviet procedure, however, at least as regards its propaganda-imbued clichés forced on the population, shows more diversity. Anything that exists in the surrounding reality is given a name only by virtue of being the focus of human interest. The bearer of language names objects based on their own perception of the world. It is the cognitive approach in the study of onymics that allows us to look at the existence of proper names in the human mental lexicon. Until the beginning of the 21st century, the cognitive aspect was not popular among scholars of onomastics, as proper names were mainly the domain of etymologists and structuralists. This paper focuses on the cognitive aspect in the description of appellative-derived names in Podlasie (based on material from Bielsk Podlaski), whose multiculturalism is conditioned by historical, confessional-ethnic, and linguistic factors. The starting point in the analysis is the property on the basis of which the original anthroponym was created. The human traits underlying the anthroponyms may have referred to external appearance (Baniewicz, Choroszkiewicz, Gładysz, Gorbacewicz, Korzun), character traits (Baran, Bołdak, Cilulko, Wojszkowicz, Zoch), manner of behaviour (Ciamaga, Haraburda, Sidun), peculiarities of speech (Harkawy, Treszczotka), family relations (Bliźniuk, Poskrobka, Prystupa), age (Gil, Grzyb), etc. Attention is also drawn to the onyms created on the basis of symbolic and stereotypical meanings (e.g. Bieroza, Dąb, Wąż, Sikora). The names are used in modern times but were created in the past on the basis of nicknames, in which the mechanisms of human thinking, categorization of the world, and evaluation of another person are specifically manifested. The encounter of two neighboring cultures – West Slavic and East Slavic – and their mutual interpenetration influenced the development of the surname system in the studied area. The largest groups of examined surnames are patronymic names of East Slavic origin with the suffixes -uk/-czuk and -owicz/-ewicz (40.48%) and the characteristic Polish toponymic anthroponyms with the suffix -ski/-cki (33.33%). Less numerous (26.19%) are surnames derived from appellatives. After taking into account the surnames used continuously since the establishment of the village to the present and the surnames that have disappeared, the distribution is as follows: patronymic surnames – 47.38%, local surnames – 32.38%, appellative surnames – 20.24%. The number of toponymic and appellative-derived surnames significantly increased after the Second World War as a result of the settlement of people from other regions of Poland in Lewkowo Nowe. The research is conducted using the descriptive method. The choice of these publications is intentional and dictated by the desire to contrast the one positioned as a quality website with its mass competitors. This contrast occurs at the content level and is reflected in the headlines, because mass publications actively use speech techniques that allow to quickly establish contact with the reader. The article briefly discusses the most important aspects of the headlines, as well as the types and functions of synonyms in them. The analysis has exposed the relationship between the nature of the publication, the synonyms appearing in it, and the function they fulfil. In a quality publication, headlines are less expressive, as they focus mainly on the presentation of facts. In turn, the main purpose of headlines in mass publications is to attract as many readers as possible and emotionally influence them.
