Call for Papers: Special Issue: Environmental Humanities in Anglophone Literatures

Crossroads. A Journal of English Studies is inviting submissions for a themed issue on topics related to environmental humanities in Anglophone literatures, scheduled for publication in the third quarter of 2026.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Environmental harm, environmental justice, and literary responses to ecological catastrophes, including pandemics,
  • Slow violence and generational environmental amnesia,
  • The enduring legacies of racism, enslavement, and colonialism and their ecological implications,
  • Climate migrations, trauma, and the cultural impact of displacement,
  • The representation of non-human others,
  • Ecocritical readings of Anglophone literature dealing with the Anthropocene, extinction, etc.,
  • Indigenous literatures and ecological narratives addressing traditional knowledge, environmental stewardship, and sustainability,
  • Blue humanities, transcorporeality, water gestationality,
  • Geontopower, plastic pollution, and extraction.

 

How to submit a paper?

Abstracts of approximately 500 words (including references) should be sent by October 30, 2025, in .doc format to the following e-mail address: a.karczewska@uwb.edu.pl

It is expected that any paper submitted to the Journal is original and has not been previously published. Notification of acceptance will be sent by November 30, 2025. The prospective authors will be asked then to make a submission through the journal’s online submission system.

 

The submission deadline for full papers, up to 8,000 words (including references), is March 30, 2026. All research articles will undergo double-blind peer review, following an initial screening by the editors.

Crossroads. A Journal of English Studies is an open-access, peer-reviewed electronic quarterly for research in the broad areas of English language, linguistics, and Anglophone literature, published by the University of Białystok (Poland). The Journal is included in the SCOPUS and ERIH+ databases.
