Recommendations for reading fiction in Polish reading guides from the period between World War I and World War II

Abstract

The article describes a number of recommendations for the reading and reception of belletristic books in Polish reading guides from the period between World War I and World War II. The authors of the books from this period encouraged readers to choose only valuable books, to read systhematically but in moderation, to develop a critical approach to reading litarature, to internalise the content of the reading material, to participate in discussions about books and to keep a record of the books they have read in order to raise the effectiveness of reading fiction.
