Ethical Guidelines

1. The Publisher, the Editor-in-chief, the Editorial Board, the Reviewers and the Authors treat the standards developed by the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics), along with the Scholar Code of Ethics of a as a point of reference for the purposes of this Code of Ethics and Conduct. The adopted standards are in line with the guidelines developed by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
2. The Publisher, the Editor-in-chief, the Editorial Board and the Reviewers cooperate in maintaining the highest ethical standards in publishing practice. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism or other types of author fraud and dishonesty (including "ghostwriting" and "guest authorship").
3. All cases of suspected plagiarism are carefully analyzed by the Editor-in-chief and the Editorial Board. The handling of cases of plagiarism is in accordance with the instructions of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and depends on the degree of copying (the work is rejected, a decision may be made to contact the publisher of the copied work and the institution the author represents).
4. The Editor-in-chief and the Editorial Board also check for other types of research misconduct, fraud and author dishonesty (e.g., "ghostwriting," "guest authorship," data falsification). If the suspicion is confirmed, the work is rejected.

 Ethical Guidelines for the Publisher

1. The Publisher supports the activities of the Editor-in-chief and Editorial Board by providing technical and legal support. The Publisher is responsible for adherence to good editorial practices and publishing ethics, and regularly inspects the Editor-in-chief and the Editorial Board's adherence to them.

 Ethical Guidelines for the Editor-in-chief

1. The Editor-in-chief is responsible for adherence to good editorial practices and publishing ethics.
2. The Editor-in-chief is responsible for the qualification of the papers submitted to the journal, consulting the Editorial Board, inhouse editors and at least two external reviewers (the double-blind peer review procedure is used in the journal "Linguodidactica"), and may also consult members of the Scientific Board. In the case of contradicting opinions, a third reviewer is appointed. The Editor-in-chief, after consultation with members of the Editorial Board, decides to appoint reviewers, who are specialists in a given area of research, with appropriate substantive knowledge, enabling the issuing of a reliable opinion on the scientific quality of the reviewed article.
3. The Editor-in-chief makes the final decision regarding the acceptance for publication or rejection of the submitted materials.The decision is made only on the basis of the scientific value of the materials, regardless of ethnic origin, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, political beliefs of the author / authors, etc. The decision to publish the submitted article is made after examining the degree of its originality, topicality, substantive value andclarity of the message, based on its relevance to the subject scope of the journal.If the submitted article is rejected, the Editor-in-chief may not use it in any way.
4. The duties of the Editor-in-chief include directing the process of managing the submitted materials (the Editor-in-chief is responsible for the timeliness of the review process, qualification for printing and publication) and ensuring that there is no conflict of interest between the reviewers and the authors. The Editor-in-chief  is responsible for adhering the journal's policy on copyright and plagiarism.The Editor-in-chief  is obliged to investigate any unethical publishing activities, even if they are discovered after the material is published.

Ethical Guidelines for the Editorial Board

1. The role of the Editorial Board members is to support the Editor-in-chief in the publishing process.
2. Depending on their scientific interests (corresponding to the subject of the individual papers submitted to the journal), members of the Editorial Board participate together with the Editor-in-chief in the preliminary evaluation and assist in the final qualification of texts, support the Editor-in-chief in the review process (communication with the reviewers and the authors) and in the process of preparing texts for publication (proofreading).
3. Together with the Editor-in-chief, they are responsible for adhering to the journal's policy on copyright and plagiarism. They are obliged to investigate any unethical publishing activities, even if they are discovered after the material has been published. The priority of the Editorial Board is scientific independence and maintaining the scientific integrity of published papers.
4. Members of the editorial committee are obliged to maintain the confidentiality of submitted articles at every stage of the publishing process, excluding data made public by the journal.
5. If a submitted article is rejected, no member of the editorial committee may use it in any way.

Ethical Guidelines for the Reviewers

1. Papers are reviewed by two independent external reviewers who are not connected to the University of Bialystok and the author’s affiliation, and who are not members of the editorial team or the scientific board of the journal. 
2. Reviewers support the Editor-in-chief in the process of qualifying papers submitted to the journal. Reviewers are required to prepare their reviews impartially and objectively, solely on the basis of the scientific value of the materials. The review should be fair and constructive. Reviewers should justify their assessment of the work, personal criticism of the author(s) of the submitted material is not allowed.
3. If reviewers are not qualified to prepare an opinion on a text, they should inform the Editor-in-chief and refuse to review the work.
4. It is the duty of the reviewers to inform the Editor-in-chief if there are cases of plagiarism and other research misconduct in the reviewed works, as well as if there is a suspicion of a potential conflict of interest with the author(s) of the reviewed works, resulting from collaboration or any other mutual relationship with the author(s).
5. Reviewers may not disclose in any way the content of their reviews or the content of the materials they review. They also must not use the contents of reviewed, as yet unpublished papers in their research. Reviews should be conducted confidentially.  

 Ethical Guidelines for the Authors

1. Authors are obliged to observe the applicable canon of scientific integrity and honesty, as well as the ethical principles and scientific standards. They bear full responsibility for the originality of the submitted work and non-infringement of third-party rights. All co-authors of submitted papers are equally responsible for adhering to the journal's rules of publishing ethics.
2. Authors are obliged to disclose all contributors to the article (including the percentage and quality contribution of each co-author to the preparation of the text) and to obtain their permission to publish it.
3. The journal publishes only original material that has not been previously published (including publication in other languages) and is not currently under consideration by another journal.
4. Authors are required to disclose information about the sources of funding for their research, which are the subject of the article, as well as the participation of people, entities and scientific research institutions that contributed to the preparation of the submitted text.
5. The journal does not accept plagiarism or other types of author abuse and dishonesty (including "ghostwriting", "guest authorship"). Any use of fragments from other works or statements by other authors must be noted in the text with a proper footnote or citation and included in the bibliography. If the author(s) discovers unreliable data in their submitted text, they should immediately report this fact to the Editor-in-chief, who will start the procedure of withdrawal of the text from the publishing process.
6. Articles are published in the journal after the author(s) sign a license agreement. The fact of submission of the text is tantamount to the author's consent to the review procedure used in the journal "Linguodidactica".

Anti-plagiarism policy

1. The Editor-in-chief and the Editorial Board of the journal "Linguodidactica" consider it a priority task to maintain the highest ethical standards of publishing practice and do not accept any form of plagiarism.
2. All submitted materials are subjected to a checking procedure using the iThenticate Similarity Check (Crossref) service (after qualifying by Editor-in-chief and the Editorial Board for review before being sent to external reviewers). Cases of suspicion or detection of plagiarism are also required to be reported to the Editor-In-Chief by members of the Editorial Board and reviewers of individual papers. All cases of suspected plagiarism are carefully analyzed by the Editor-in-chief and the Editorial Board.
3. The handling of cases of plagiarism is in accordance with the instructions of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and depends on the degree of copying (the work is rejected, a decision may be made to contact the publisher of the copied work and the institution the author represents).
4. The Editor-in-chief and the Editorial Board also check for other types of research misconduct, fraud and author dishonesty (e.g., "ghostwriting," "guest authorship," data falsification). If the suspicion is confirmed, the work is rejected.
5. The Editor-in-chief and the Editorial Board are obliged to consider any violations of the ethical principles of science and violations of the principles of scientific integrity, even if they come to light many years after the date of publication.
6. Information on violations of the ethical rules of science and violations of the rules of scientific integrity are archived by the Editor-in-chief of the journal.
