Abstract

Problems of European language policy and connected with it questions of teaching foreign languages in Europe and in particular in Poland, Lithuania and Belarus are discussed in the article. Recommendations for teaching foreign languages in Europe taking into account the experience of teaching foreign languages in Poland, Lithuania and Belarus are suggested. The authors analyze the programs of teaching, staff, technologies and methods of teaching. Statistical data are given. The role of intellectual and age factors of developing foreign competences are evaluated. In the conclusion strong and weak points and problems of teaching foreign languages nowadays are discussed.
