The aim of this article is to present good points of a thesaurus in comparison to other
terminological dictionary types. A thesaurus may be defined as a compilation of words and
phrases organized in such a way as to show their relationships and to provide a standardized
vocabulary. The relationships displayed in a thesaurus might be both conceptual and
synonymous. The article outlines the thesaurus structure and ways of its creation. Furthermore,
the author presents micro-, macrostructure and some entries of a model of a Russian-Polish
securities thesaurus.
