Linguistic means of influence in the headlines of Russian women’s magazines: gender dimension

The aim of the article is to define the specificity and frequency of occurrence of lexical means, including stylistic means, used in the headlines of articles of such magazines as “Domašnij očag” and “Psychologies”. The content of individual headlines in magazines, published in the period from January 2018 to August 2019, was analysed. The analysis of headlines published on the pages of contemporary women’s magazines allowed the presentation of the potential of the lexical system, which gives wide possibilities for influencing the recipient, also in terms of gender studies as it allows the definition of what image of a modern woman is created by the given magazines. What is interesting, although both magazines use the same means of expression based on emotionality, is the completely different image of a woman that emerges from them, which is confirmed by numerous examples which are the basis of the analytical material.Keywords:
