The subject of the article is analysis of lexical borrowings from the Polish language in the
Suprasl Chronicle. It belongs to the first Belorussian – Lithuanian compilation. The article
considers three types of borrowings: 1) formal semantic borrowings, 2) semantic calques,
3) structural calques. Formal semantic borrowings are the most common and they, according
to their meaning, can be divided into several groups. Almost all lexical borrowings from the
Polish language supported by evidence in the Suprasl Chronicle are found in its last part created
on the territory of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
