Verbalization of the concept of “nation” in program materials of political parties

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the concept of “nation” characteristic for Russian political discourse, verbalized in electoral programs of the largest political parties. The realization of this concept of “nation” is served by various lexical units (neutral and related to emotional connotations). Various characteristics of the concept are updated in the awareness of voters. They refer to fundamental values, to basic psychological needs of every citizen, to patriotic feelings. The examined attributes are related to the structure of program materials: political parties build the picture of reality in the country based on the contrasts: “bad situation today – improvement in the future when the party wins the election”, what can affect the emotions of the recipients.
