Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the oldest sources o f West Ruthenian lexicography written in the 16 th –17 th and the 18 th centuries, such as "Лєксисъ с толкованіємъ словєнскихъ мовъ просто" (anonymous from the first half of the 16 th century), "Лєксис Сирѣчъ Рєчєнїѧ" (L. Zizanij, Vilno, in 1596), "Лєѯіконъ славєнорѡсский и имєнъ тлъкованїє" (P. Berynda, Kiev, in 1627) as well as "Лєѯіконъ Сирѣчъ Словєсникъ Славєнскіи" (Supraśl, in 1722). The dictionaries, which were of usable a nd instructive nature, manifested the tradition of normative -lexicographic studies of Old Church Slavonic language initiated by fraternity schoo ls in the Grand Dutchy of Lithuania. The analysis of macro- and microstructure of t he dictionaries renders it possible to observe gradual evolution of their authors’ l exicographic workshop.
