Uniwersytet w BiałymstokuAbstract
The paper discusses the phenomenon of Poles’ nineteenth-century migrations documented in broadly understood literature in the biographical perspective. The proposed term transborder biography refers to the experience connected with the recurrence of crossing the borders (political,
social, environmental, cultural) and attempts at putting down roots in new conditions forced by circumstances (political, social, economic).
