Abstract

This article addresses the impact of museum activities and the politics of remembrance and commemoration on the transformation of Holocaust landscapes. These landscapes, fixed in literary texts in a particular moment and a specific form, have undergone many transformations over the decades and have been affected by various, often politically motivated, processes. As the author proves, it would appear that these transformations do not necessarily cause changes in the reader’s reception of the texts based on their authors' own experiences. In practice, however, space, place and time may be important elements determining the value and authenticity of the recorded experience.
