Between Historical Record and Family Legends – Memoirs of Polish Tatars

Abstract

The text discusses the journals of the representatives of Polish Tatars, and it includes both distinguished artistic texts and those written by non-professional writers. While interpreting the most important works by such authors as, e.g. Mustafa Aleksandrowicz, Jan Sobolewski, Zulia Janowicz-Czaińska Drotlew, the article’s author attempts to invent a methodology which would be suitable for representatives of small ethnic groups.
