Abstrakt

The article is characterized by the lexical material included in the nineteenth century Augustów dialect dictionary by Aleksander Osipowicz in semantic and cultural approach. It shows various aspects of reality manifesting themselves in a folk language, focusing in wide meaningful circles referring to society and natural environment. It is an attempt to present a way of expressing and understanding the world characteristic of rural community.
