Abstract
The article discusses colloquial and environmental derivatives with –oza formative that occur in contemporary Polish language, e.g. czadoza < czad, bajeroza < bajer, nudoza < nuda. They are described in the context of derivatives having the same formative that belong to erudite vocabulary, e.g. alkaloza med. < alkalia, ameboza pszcz. < ameba. Colloquial and environmental lexis, contrary to erudite words, is characterized with expressiveness and large productivity of formatives. The author concludes that a source of expressiveness of the discussed derivatives is in breach of cohesion rules of –oza formative both formally and stylistically
