Zabłudów and its properties' anthroponymy in the first half of the 17th century in the context of multi-ethnicity

Leonarda Dacewicz

Abstract

The author presents the characteristics of a certain stage of surnames' formation in Zabłudów properties using the material of an extensive Inventory from 1622, which includes app. 800 names that function as surnames. A multi-cultural nature of the discussed area is reflected in genetically and formally-linguistically differentiated names. A systematic review of dominant types of surnames in the context of Polish, Ruthenian, Lithuanian and Jewish cultures' influences leads to the conclusion that phonetic , structural and lexical features of the Polish language and Eastern Slavonic languages were present in a developing anthroponomical system.
