Beata Kuryłowicz

Abstract

The author characterizes phraseological modifying innovations occurring in Waldemar Łysiak’s novel Kielich (Chalice). The analysis reveals that modified phrases are present mostly in the speech of the main character serving specified functions: they influence the main character speech’s individualization, emphasize subjectivity, decorate and refresh old phrases imagery, thus increasing utterance expressionism.
