Joanna Kuć

Abstract

The article discusses orthography and significant phonetic phenomena in the scope of vocalism and consonantism found in the XVIIth century parish books from Mokobody (the Podlaskie-Mazowieckie dialect borderland) . The analysis of the monument confirms that some features of this graphics bear Old Polish relics' characteristics. Mokobody books reveal significant phonetic variety involving parallel occurrence of both archaic and more recent linguistic phenomena as well as dialect tendencies of mostly Mazowieckie Province and generally Polish that are distinctive for the second part of the XVIIth century.
