Abstract

The subject of the description are English lexical borrowings from the scope of computer terminology in Russian language. In the article there were characterized degrees and criteria of their assimilation. The lexical loanwords are becoming assimilated with a different intensity. Such factors are forming the scale of their incorporation: creating inflected forms (paradigms of declination and conjugation), derivative abilities, syntactical activity, corrections within the scope of the pronunciation and the orthography resulting from articulatory differences of Russian and English sounds. Moreover, in case of Russian language, that uses the Cyrillic alphabet, a graphical transposition of borrowed names (mostly phonetic transcription, rarely transliteration) is an additional criterion determining the grade of their assimilation.
